Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi launched its Redmi S2 on 10th May 2018. The Xiaomi Redmi S2 will be sporting a 16-megapixel selfie camera with 2-micron pixels. It will be packed with AI-based beautification features, and according to the company it is the ‘best Redmi selfie phone’.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is also the company’s first smartphone in the Redmi S-Series. It has been launched in partnership with retailer Suning.com.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Specifications

The Redmi S2 is dual-Nano SIM supported. Its runs MIUI 9 based on Android. The device is built with a 5.99-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) display. The display has a 70.8% NTSC color gamut. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC. It is backed with either 3GB or 4GB RAM. It depends on the variant purchased.

The smartphone sports a dual-rear camera module. Its primary camera is a 12-megapixel sensor and the secondary camera sports a 5-megapixel sensor. The camera has a f/2.2 aperture, PDAF AF, LED, AI Portrait Mode, HDR and facial recognition. The Xiaomi Redmi S2 front camera is a 16-megapixel sensor with 2-micron pixels. It combines four pixels into one single, oversized pixel. It also offers AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, Front HDR and Facial Recognition.

The device has two inbuilt storage variants– 32GB and 64GB. Both are expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).

The phone supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In the battery department, it is packed with a 3080mAh battery.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Price

The smartphone starts at CNY 999 for the 3GB RAM variant. It is Rs. 10,600 approximately. For the 4GB RAM variant, it is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs. 13,700). The smartphone will go on sale on 17th May 2018. It is available in Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, and Platinum Silver color variants.
