Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched three Redmi 6 series smartphones in China – Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and Redmi 6 Pro. The Redmi 6 Pro was later rebranded as the Mi A2 Lite in certain markets. Now, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 6 series in the Indian market. Highlights of the new smartphone include wide-screen displays, AI-powered face unlock feature, and dual 4G VoLTE. Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 is priced in India at Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model costs Rs 9,499. It will be available from September 10 via Flipkart and Mi.com.

Whereas the Xiaomi Redmi 6A is priced at Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,999 for the 16GB and 32GB storage model, respectively. It will go on sale from September 19 via Amazon India and Mi.com.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro costs Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model. The 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage is priced at Rs 12,999. It will available from September 11 via  Amazon India and Mi.com.

Specifications and Features

The dual 4G VoLTE support meaning users will be able to enjoy 4G VoLTE connectivity on both the SIM cards. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5A didn’t come with this feature.

The Redmi 6 runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with MIUI 9 on top. The dual camera setup (with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels, and Portrait Mode) on the back combines a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The handset also comes with a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and AI beautification capabilities.
