Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi has launched its Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet in India alongside Redmi 2 smartphone. The Mi Pad is priced at Rs. 12,999 and will go on sale exclusively through Flipkart starting 24th March 2015 without prior registrations. Xiaomi Mi Pad in the Indian market, will compete with the likes of Google Nexus 9 and Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet. Processor & RAM
Both Xiaomi Mi Pad and Nexus 9 are powered by Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with former featuring a 2.2 GHz Quad-core CPU and latter with Dual-core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz. Yoga 2 tablet is powered by 1.33 GHz Quad-core Intel Atom3745 processor. All the tablets are coupled with 2 GB of RAM.
Operating System
Xiaomi Mi Pad and Yoga 2 tablet run on Android 4.4 KitKat. Mi Pad further comes with MIUI 6 wrapped over its top. Google Nexus 9 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.
Display
All the three tablets differ in display sizes. Nexus 9 sports the biggest 8.9 inch IPS display while Mi Pad comes with a 7.9 inch IPS display, both with resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Pixel density of the former is 288 ppi and that of Mi Pad is 326 ppi. Lenovo Yoga 2 features an 8.0 inch IPS display with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution and 283 ppi pixel density.
Camera
There is an 8 mega pixel rear camera on all the three devices. Mi Pad sports a 5 mega pixel front facing camera while other two tablets sport a 1.6 mega pixel front shooter.
Storage & Battery
Again there is a tie between the three devices on storage front. All the three tablets house 16 GB of inbuilt storage. Xiaomi Mi Pad and Lenovo Yoga 2 feature a microSD slot for further expansion up to 128 GB and 64 GB respectively. Nexus 9 lacks a microSD card slot.
Xiaomi Mi Pad and Google Nexus 9 pack 6700 mAh batteries. Yoga 2 tablet is fueled by a 6400 mAh battery.
Price
Xiaomi’s Mi Pad is priced the lowest at Rs. 12,999 whereas the other two tablets are priced above Rs. 20,000. Google Nexus 9 carries a price tag of Rs. 28,699 while Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet is priced at Rs. 21,190.
Verdict
All the three devices look great on spec sheet with high-end specs. None of tablets fails to impress us on any front however Xiaomi Mi Pad has an upper hand since it comes with better front camera resolution, massive expandable storage at an impressive price tag of Rs. 12,999 which is nearly half as that of the other two tablets.
