Xiaomi has launched, the successor of Mi Pad, called the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 in China. On design front, the Mi Pad 2 flaunts its metal build with thin dimensions. The device is much sleeker and lighter compared to the Mi Pad. The Mi Pad measures 8.5mm and weighs 360 grams while the Mi Pad 2 measures 6.95mm and weighs 322 grams.
Based on operating system, the Mi Pad 2 will be available in two variants- one that runs Android Lollipop based MIUI 7 while the other runs Windows 10. Based on storage also, it will be available in two variants- 16GB and 64GB.
As for specifications, the tablet is powered by a 2.24GHz quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor paired with Intel HD GPU and 2GB of RAM. The device features a 7.9-inch IPS display with 2048×1536 pixels resolution and 326ppi pixel density. It sports an 8 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5 mega pixel front facing camera. Backed up by a 6190mAh battery, it is claimed to deliver up to 648.8 hours of standby time.

The Mi Pad 2 16GB variant running Android based MIUI 7 is priced at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 10,300) while 64GB variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs. 13,500) and will go on sale in China this month. The 64GB variant running Windows 10 is priced same as the MIUI 7 variant and will go on sale in December.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi Pad was launched in India back in March 2015. It comes with a 2.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 ARM Cortex-A15 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specifications of the tablet include 7.9-inch (2048×1536 pixels resolution, 326 ppi pixel density) display, Android 4.4 KitKat operating system with MIUI 6, 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card), 8 mega pixel rear camera with Sony BSI sensor, 5 mega pixel front camera and a 6700mAh battery.
