Xiaomi has launched a special edition of its Mi Note 3 smartphone. The new Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Kris Wu Limited Edition is a surprise birthday gift to the company’s brand ambassador. Wu Yifan is a popular Chinese-Canadian actor and singer also known as Kris Wu. The new edition features the same set of specifications as the Mi Note 3 with some minor changes to the design. The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 was initially launched in China this September. It is priced at CNY 2,499 (approx Rs 24,500) for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB internal storage variant. While a Black 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,899 (approx Rs 28,300), the Blue 6GB RAM/ 128GB variant comes at CNY 2,999 (approx Rs 29,400). The new limited edition model is unlikely to hit the Indian market.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Kris Wu Limited Edition features a 5.5-inch display with full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution, a pixel density of 403ppi and a 94.4 percent NTSC color gamut. It is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor along with Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB LPDDR4x RAM. It comes with two internal storage variants (non-expandable) – with 64GB or 128GB. The new handset is backed by a 3500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
On the camera front, the new handset sports a dual camera setup on the back (similar to Xiaomi Mi 6) with dual-tone LED flash. It uses a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with 1.25μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization, and the 12-megapixel telephoto lens (52mm) with 1.0 μm pixel size, and a f/2.6 aperture. Other features include 2x optical zoom, phase detection autofocus system (PDAF), and 4K video capture. The 16-megapixel front camera comes with 2-micron pixels and an AI-based Beautify feature.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Kris Wu Limited Edition features a 7-Series aluminum alloy frame and a 4-sided curved glass body. It measures 152.6 x 73.95 x 7.6mm and weighs 163grams. The new limited edition handset features Kris Wu’s name in golden color on the back panel. It comes in same standard blue color option.
The new handset also sports an under-glass fingerprint sensor. Sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.
The new smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with MIUI 9 over the top. The USP of the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is its ‘Adaptable AI Beautify’ feature that uses AI-based algorithms to beautify selfies. It has a different algorithm for men and women. The new dual-SIM smartphone features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C and NFC as connectivity options. Additional features include a stereo speaker setup, AI-based facial recognition, and an IR blaster.
