Xiaomi has launched its Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness tracker in the Indian market. It succeeds the Mi Band which was launched in India in 2015 and comes with several upgrades over the predecessor.
While the original Mi Band lacked display and heart rate sensor, the Mi Band 2 is equipped with both. It features a 0.42-inch OLED display which comes with scratch-resistant glass and anti-fingerprint coating. The wearable comes with PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor or the heart rate monitor. The display shows shows time, step taken and heart rate count.
Mi Band 2 keeps a track on activity levels, distance walked, calories burnt as well as keeps a track of daily exercise goals of the users. The Mi Band connects to Android smartphones and iPhones via Bluetooth 4.0 and keeps a track of fitness and sleep of the user.
The wearable vibrates when the user gets any incoming call or any other notification on the connected device. Users can also locate their Mi Band 2. It will light up and vibrate if it is within the Bluetooth range. It will be available in different color options of wristbands- Blue, Black, Green and Orange among others. The wearable weighs just 7 grams and features IP67 rating for resistance against water. The new Mi Band 2 wearable supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE for pairing with the smartphone. Fueled by a 70mAh battery, it is said to deliver up to 20 days of standby time.
