Xiaomi has launched multiple new smartphones in the Chinese market. The long-awaited Mi 8 Youth Edition is a toned down version of the company’s Mi 8 handset. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition (Mi 8 Lite) is priced in China at CNY 1,399 (approx Rs 14,800) for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant. While the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage model comes with a price tag of CNY 1,699 (approx Rs 18,000), the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant costs CNY 1,999 (approx Rs 21,200).
The new 4GB RAM/ 128GB storage model will be launched on November 16. However, the company is yet to reveal the price details of the new variant.
Previously, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite was spotted on TENAA site in black color option and 8GB RAM. As per a TENAA listing, a Xiaomi smartphone with the model number M1808D2TT (said to be Mi 8 Lite) comes with 8GB RAM. It will come in a Black color option (side buttons and middle frame in orange color). Also, the new model seems to have a slightly smaller 3,250mAh battery (down from 3,350mAh battery).
As of now, there is no information about an Indian launch date and price.

The new smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor along with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It is backed by a 3,350mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support. There might be additional RAM/ storage options.
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition (Mi 8 Lite) sports a dual camera setup on the back (with a 12-megapixel primary sensor + 5-megapixel secondary sensor). Camera features include a f/1.9 aperture, AI capabilities, and dual phase detection autofocus (PDAF). The 24-megapixel front camera comes with Sony IMX576 sensor and AI features.

The new handset sports a 6.26-inch LCD display with full HD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 2.5D curved glass on top. It comes in three gradient color options. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and A-GPS with GLONASS.
The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with MIUI on top. It comes with a Face Unlock feature and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. A display notch is present on the front.

The new Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth model (Mi 8 Lite) is aimed at young smartphone users. It comes with a larger display and front camera sensor. Earlier this year, the Chinese brand announced a Xiaomi Mi 8 along with Mi 8 Explorer Edition and Mi 8 SE.
