Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has been speculated to reveal its successor to its flagship Mi 6 in 2018. The Mi 7 was predicted to be launched during 2018 MWC but it didn’t happen. The company launched its Mi Mix 2S in March 2018. Moreover, new leaks have surfaced, that the company will skip its Mi 7 branding and go for the Mi 8. According to a new Mi 8 leak report, the company will have its annual product launch event on 31st May 2018. The Mi 8 will be launched there.
The company has also allegedly confirmed that its 2018 Annual Product Launch event will take place in China. According to a Mi 8 leak report by Gizmochina, tipsters in China have revealed that the company will launch the smartphone at the end of May 2018.
A screenshot has surfaced online which shows that the company has already sold tickets for the event.
The leaked images also stated that tickets for the event are between CNY 799 and CNY 1,999. The event is expected to have around 5,000 people. The company is predicted to reveal many new products including the Mi 8 smartphone. It has been also allegedly been introduced in the Mi Community.
Moreover, new Mi 8 leak photos have shown the packaged box and front panel of the Mi 8. Photos of a speculated Mi 8 retail box has appeared online. It proves the rumors that the company might launch the Mi 8 smartphone rather than the Mi 7. The Mi 8 leak box package had surfaced on Chinese website My Drivers.
Another Mi 8 leak image was revealed via Slashleaks. It showed the front panel placed inside a plastic cover of the device. It also showed the wide notch at the top of the display. The smartphone will also allegedly have thin bezels on the sides.

The Mi 8 is speculated to have 3D facial recognition. It will probably be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. It might also have an under-display fingerprint reader. The Mi 8 also might run Android 8.0.0 Oreo with 6GB RAM.
