The new Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer is priced in China at CNY3,699 (approx $530 or Rs 37,200). It will be available at the Mi Store. As of now, there is information about an Indian launch date or price.
The regular Mi 8 is priced at CNY 2,699 (approx Rs 28,600) for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant. While the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant costs CNY 2,999 (approx Rs 31,600), the 6GB RAM/ 256GB model comes at CNY 3,299 (approx Rs 34,800). The Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The new handset sports a 6.21-inch Samsung AMOLED display with full-HD+ (1080 x 2248 pixels) resolution, an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, and 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also supports for Always On display. The Xiaomi smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+ support.
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Mi 8 sports a dual camera setup on the back. It combines two 12-megapixel sensors with 1.4-micron pixels, 4-axis OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, AI portraits, AI scene detection, and video detection. The 20-megapixel front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture, 1.8-micron pixels, AI portrait selfies, and beautify feature.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition sports an in-display fingerprint sensor and a see-through back panel (shows Snapdragon 845 chipset and the 3,000 mAh battery). It measures 154.9 x 74.8 x 7.6mm and weighs 177grams. Other sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass, gyroscope, infrared, and a proximity sensor. The device also supports Face ID.
The dual-SIM smartphone runs MIUI 10, based on Android Oreo OS. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, dual-band GPS, and USB Type-C.

The premium smartphone comes with a great combination of specs and features. The rear panel is also pretty impressive. However, new reports claim that the translucent back doesn’t show the real internals. In fact, the Mi 8SE and Mi 8 models can also get the translucent back via a third-party protective case.
