WhatsApp Co-Founder Jan Kuom Leaves Amidst WhatsApp Group Video Calling Announcement
Unlike Facebook, WhatsApp has been known for its privacy and encryption settings. Clashing with Facebook data leak scandals, Jan Koum (a key member of WhatsApp) quit the company. Zuckerberg mentioned Kuom’s decision during the conference and thanked him.
“Jan has done an amazing job building WhatsApp,” said Zuckerberg, further stating him as a “tireless advocate for privacy and encryption.” The CEO mentioned that when Facebook bought WhatsApp, it didn’t have end-to-end encryption. It came after Facebook bought the messaging platform.
