Amazon has launched a new waterproof Kindle Paperwhite in the Indian market. The new variant comes in two storage variants – 8GB with Wi-Fi or 32GB with Wi-Fi and 4G. The new waterproof Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is priced in India at Rs 12,999 (for 8GB with Wi-Fi variant). The 32GB Kindle Paperwhite 4G costs Rs.17,999. It is now up for pre-orders. Sales start from November 14.
As part of launch offers, pre-ordering customers will get three months of the Kindle Unlimited subscription and two years of extended warranty.
The company has also announced a line of covers which have a magnetic snap-on feature (prevents the flap from opening on its own) that automatically locks and unlocks the device (unless password protected).

The new waterproof Kindle Paperwhite comes with an IPX8 rating. This means that it can be immersed in up to two meters of water for up to 60 minutes. You can now easily read your favorite books on the poolside, beach, or even in the pool.
The e-book reader sports the same 6.0-inch display as its predecessor. However, it comes with several improvements. The new display is on the same level as the rest of the screen. It comes with a front light (five LEDs). However, the adaptive brightness feature (seen in the Kindle Oasis) is missing.
Overall, the new Kindle Paperwhite is thinner and lighter than the previous model. It is only 8.18mm thick and weighs 182g.
The new tablet comes with several improvements in the software section too. The new home screen recommends books based on your reading history. Amazon claims that some of the recommendations will free for you to read via Kindle Unlimited or Prime Reading subscription services.
Additionally, users can save multiple reading settings (such as the font and size) and quickly switch between these profiles. This makes it easier to share the device among family and friends.

Conclusion
Amazon Kindle Oasis was the first waterproof ebook reader from the e-commerce giant. However, it sports a higher price tag than the new Kindle Paperwhite. While the 8GB storage model is priced in India at Rs 21,999, the 32GB model (Wi-Fi + free 3G) comes at a price tag of Rs 28,999.
The Waterproof Ebook Reader features a bright 7-inch display with a pixel density of 300ppi. It comes with a six-week battery life. Connectivity options include Bluetooth. The waterproof tablet also comes with an IPX8 rating. However, unlike the US, the company is not offering a 4G model for the cellular variant in India as yet.
