The Vivo Apex 2020 is being touted to come with no physical buttons, no notch or hole-punch or even a pop-up selfie camera setup.

The concept phone features a 120-degree curved edgeless display with a unique in-display selfie camera.

Additionally, it comes with features like an amped-up optical image stabilization (OIS), unique ‘instant photobomb removal’ feature, and up to 5x to 7.5x continuous optical zoom.

While the concept phone is unlikely to be commercially launched in the market, Vivo is likely to include its features in the company’s future handsets. Let’s take a closer look:

The Vivo Apex 2020 features a 6.45-inch FullView edgeless display with up to 120-degree curves on both sides. Even the top forehead and bottom chin are almost gone.

The new smartphone looks like a borderless screen panel. All the physical buttons have been replaced with virtual pressure-sensing buttons.

Also, there is no display hole or pop-up mechanism for the front camera. Instead, Vivo has added an under-display selfie camera.

The 16MP front camera comes equipped with a 4-in-1 super-pixel photosensitive chip and algorithm optimizations to increase image quality.

Vivo claims that the light transmittance of the screen right above the front camera increases up to six times more than any other part of the display.

On the back, the 6.2mm thick camera module offers high-magnification continuous optical zoom (5x zoom – 7.5x). It uses a 4-group lens combination to achieve real-time focus.

The rear camera setup features a 48MP primary sensor with a gimbal-like structure that offers optical image stabilization (OIS) in the front-back and left-right inclined directions.

The company claims that users will need no additional equipment to take long exposure night photos. The new technique extends the stabilization angle by 200 percent (compared to the traditional OIS system).

The Vivo Apex 2020 also features 60W Wireless Super FlashCharge technology (can charge a 2,000mAh battery in 20 minutes).

Additional features on the device include the third generation screen SoundCasting technology, Instant photobomb removal (allow you to eliminate passers-by in the background), and Voice Tracking Auto-Focus.
