Vivo is all set to announce a new smartphone in China this month. The upcoming handset (codenamed Waterdrop) is tipped to sport a liquid metal chassis. The Vivo Apex 2019 will be unveiled on January 24 date. The event invite shows a waterdrop along with the tagline ‘totally heaven’. As of now, there is no information about the price.

According to recent leaks and rumors, the Vivo Apex 2 sports liquid metal construction. It features a very round design with almost no bezels. The front camera seems to be absent. On the back, the handset sports a dual camera setup with an LED flash. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint sensor.
While recent leaks have revealed the design of the handset, it might just be a concept phone, as of now. Recent Weibo post was accompanied with the caption, “what is the future mobile phone?” Vivo launched the Apex FullView concept in February last year. It was later launched as Vivo Nex.
Vivo NEX
The Vivo NEX is priced in India at Rs 44,990. It will be available from July 21 via Amazon India. The new handset sports a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display with full-HD+ (1080 x 2316 pixels) resolution and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB RAM.
In terms of optics, the Vivo Nex sports a dual rear camera setup on the back. It combines a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor (with dual-core pixels + 4-axis OIS) with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor.
For selfies and video calling, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel pop-up camera (controlled via a micro-drive system) on the front. Camera features include AI Portrait Framing, AI HDR, AI Face Beauty, and Google Lens integration. It is backed by a 4000mAh battery.

Recently, the Chinese manufacturer launched a new variant of its Z3i smartphone. The Vivo Z3i Standard Edition comes with a price tag of CNY 1,998 (approx Rs 20,900). It comes in Aurora Blue, Dream Pink, and Starry Night Black color options. The new smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor and 6GB RAM (similar to Vivo V11). The 128GB internal storage can be further expanded via a micro SD card (up to 256GB).
In terms of optics, the Vivo Z3i Standard Edition sports a dual camera setup on the back. It comes with a 16-megapixel primary sensor (f/2.0 aperture) and a 2-megapixel sensor (f/2.4 aperture). The highlight of the device is a 24-megapixel front camera (f/2.0 aperture). Camera features include AI Beauty, Backlight, Panorama, and Portrait Background Blur among others. In the power department, the new handset is backed by a 3,315mAh battery.
