The Indian handset makers seem to have taken an oath to dominate every aspect of the mobile and tablet market India. Be it the 7 inch tablets or the 10 inch tablets, they’re gearing up to spoil the party of the iPads and the Galaxy Tabs. Videocon, the trusted electronics maker in India just announced their arrival in the budget Android mobile market and as promised at the mobile launch, have announced their 10.1 inch tablet which is on sale now.

The VT10 tablet features a 10.1 inch screen as the name suggests and the screen has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels and is priced at a meager Rs.11,200. It features a 1.5 GHz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which is the most noteworthy feature of the tablet. They’ve used a Qualcomm chipset instead of the budget Mediatek chipset like their competitors and usage of this chipset alone makes it the leader of the pack. It comes with 8 GB of internal storage expandable by 32 GB via a microSD card.

It features 1 GB of RAM for those hardcore gamers and runs Android 4.1.1 i.e. Jelly Bean. Interestingly, they’ve launched the tablet with a couple of online retailers so as to do a trial run sort of a thing to check the interest it garners and the complete official launch shall take place by mid-January. It has a 2MP rear as well as a front camera unit. It needs a mammoth memory to power the big screen and Videocon have put in a Li-Polymer-6800mAh battery which shall give it a juice for some 4 hours of browsing. Connectivity bases are all covered and are the same as the industry norms these days.

It has the Karbonn Smart 10 as its real competition as it offers pretty much similar specs with Jelly Bean on board. But it has a 9.7 inch screen and the Videocon offering has 10.1 inch screen. Since they retail at a similar price point, the VT10 has an upper hand. It is available on Snapdeal.com and HomeShop18.com.
