2014 was indeed a great year for smartphones. The industry churned out a host of smartphones in various shapes, sizes and unique functionality. As 2015 has already kicked in with various announcements at the CES, and MWC right around the corner, we present you the top smartphones to look out for in 2015.
HTC One M9 (HIMA)
Codenamed as ‘Hima’, the successor to critically acclaimed HTC One M8, the HTC One M9 is set to improve the major gripe of its predecessor – the camera. If leaked specifications are to believed, HTC One M9 will sport a 5 inch full HD LCD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The primary camera will be a beefy 20 Megapixel unit while the front camera will now sport a 4 Ultrapixel camera module for better low light selfies/video calls. It’ll also come with Android Lollipop 5.0 with Sense 7.0 overhaul.
Sony Xperia Z4
Considering the flagship upgrade cycle that Sony follows, it’s literally a no brainer to expect the launch of Sony Xperia Z4 in Q1 2015. It’s rumored to have an octa core Snapdragon processor, 4 GB RAM and a Quad HD display. Camera performance, which has been a strong suite for Sony will also receive a upgrade in form of a curved Exmor RS sensor. Water and dust resistance can be expected as usual.
LG G4
LG G3 was one of the most critically acclaimed smartphone of 2014 due to its almost bezel-less design, laser autofocus camera and overall design language. LG is all set to unveil to the G4 in the summer of 2015 with updated specifications – laced with Snapgragon 810 based on 64 bit architecture, even slimmer bezels which will reduce the overall footprint of the device. The display will be a Quad HD display with better sunlight legibilty and better power optimisations.
OnePlus Two
One Plus One is an amazing phone if you can manage to get one. The Chinese startup has received rave reviews from all over the world for its first flagship device that offers unbelievable specifications for a rock bottom price. One Plus Two is expected to be unveiled in 2015 with a heavy focus on design along with specifications. It is rumored to sport a 5.5 inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 810 based processor, 4 GB RAM and a 3300 mAh battery.
Apple iPhone 6S
2015 would be year for Apple’s rather modest upgrade to the iPhone as the trend follows. The iPhone 6S will most likely carry the same design as the current version but with updated internals. It is rumored to have a Sapphire Glass display and more durable liquidmetal material, a faster A9 processor along with M9 co-processor and wireless charging. Also the RAM will be upgraded to 2 GB LPDDR4 memory which will double the memory access speeds. The camera is rumored to have a two-lens system which will produce DSLR quality imagery. Sounds too good to be true ? It probably is. We will have to wait till September 2015 to find out.
