Lenovo claims that the new notebook is designed to deliver a laptop efficiency with smartphone portability. It was initially showcased in May last year.

The company has partnered with LG Display (for manufacturing the flexible display) and an Intel team (for various hinge-related challenges).

The ThinkPad X1 Fold sports a folding OLED display (folds from the middle) that offers a traditional notebook-like feel.

The foldable laptop features a 13.3-inch pOLED display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It features a mechanical hinge that enables the foldable form factor.

Users will be able to fold the screen out completely flat for a tablet-like experience. It can also be bent slightly to read a book. In portrait orientation, you can use it to take notes or draw sketches via the Active Pen.

A ThinkPad X1 Fold Stand will also be available in the second half of this year. It will help users to keep the device in portrait or landscape mode for a desktop-like experience.

Additionally, users can connect the laptop with a keyboard, mouse or a second display via a USB Type-C port. Lenovo is offering Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard to support long-hour typing.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold runs the Windows 10 OS. Lenovo plans to bring Windows 10X (aimed at foldable and dual-screen devices) at a later date.
