MediaTek has launched world’s first deca-core (ten processing cores) SoC with tri-cluster CPU architecture dubbed the MediaTek Helio X20. The first Helio SoC, Helio 10 was launched at Mobile World Congress 2015. The Helio X20 will take on Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series, which has been incorporated in several flagship devices this year.
The MediaTek Helio X20 comes with three processor clusters which have designed to handle workloads with more efficiency. It comprises of two A72 cores clocked at 2.5GHz (for extreme loads), four A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz (for medium loads) and four A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz (for light loads). It will feature Mali T800 series GPU, however the exact model is not known yet.
MediaTek announced MT6795, the 64-bit Octa-core LTE smartphone System on Chip (SoC) with 2K display support. This is MediaTek’s flagship smartphone SoC designed to empower high-end device makers to leap into the Android devices built on 64 bit architecture. It has a couple of impressive specifications inlcuding 4G LTE support and super slow motion video capturing and playback capability.
At a press event in New Delhi on 20th March 2014 announced the launch of 4 new products with MediaTek Chipset and Aircel Data and voice packs which offers free data and other benefits to the customers who buy these devices. The four devices announced include 1 data card, 1 Funbook series tab and two phones. To be precise, these are- MMX 377G (Dongle with 14Mbps support), Funbook Mini 410i, A090 (3G Smartphone) and X070 (feature phone with data).
