Similar to TikTok and Reels, the Spotlight feature on Snapchat shows vertical videos auto-playing. Users can skip through content by swiping up or down.

The new Spotlight feature allows creators to create and share video clips to the public. They can also earn money while doing so.

Snapchat is promising to pay a share of $1 million every day (for the rest of the year) to the creators who share the most popular clips.

The share amount will be distributed based on the total number of unique video views a Snap gets in a given day.

Note: Snapchat will not allow content that has been watermarked. So, you have to upload videos that are unique to the platform and not reuploads from Reels or TikTok.

With the prize money, Snapchat hopes to attract more users to Spotlight. It is likely to introduce advertisements later on.

Currnetly, Spotlight is being rolled out in US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and France.

The social media platform has also added privacy features like public comments being completely disabled for all snaps. If a creator has a private account, their username or handle will not be visible publicly.
