Google is now rolling out a new feature that will allow users to share apps with nearby Android smartphones using Nearby Share.
Originally, Google allowed users to only send and receive files, photos, and videos. Now, you can send and receive apps as well, even without data or Wi-Fi connectivity.
Android (6.0 Marshmallow and above) users have started receiving the app sharing feature of Nearby Share. Here’s how you can use the new feature:

How To Send and Receive Apps Via Google Play
- Navigate to Google Play on your Android smartphone
- Next, open the hamburger menu and select My Apps and Games
- Now, you should see a new Share tab alongside other options like Updates, Installed, and Library
- Then, click on the Share tab
- Next, you should see a new notice that reads ‘Now you can send and receive apps with anyone nearby using Google Play. No Internet connection required.’
- To send apps to someone nearby, click on Send. Whereas if you’re receiving apps from someone nearby, click on Receive.
Note: When sending apps, you can select multiple apps at once and send in one go.

Conclusion
The new Nearby Share is essentially Google’s version of the popular Apple AirDrop feature. It was initially introduced last year.
Additionally, Google is said to be working on a feature that will allow users to easily share their Wi-Fi passwords remotely. It is likely to debut on Android 12.
