The new foldable phone comes with several upgrades over the Galaxy Fold. The South Korean electronics giant has added 5G support and an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC.

Additionally, the design of the Samsung W20 5G has also been slightly tweaked. The rest of the specifications and features remain the same as the Galaxy Fold.

The Samsung W20 5G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ along with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage (UFS 3.0). It is backed by two batteries (placed on two sides of the phone) with a total capacity of 4235mAh battery.

The new handset sports a total of six cameras (three on back + two on the inside + one on the front). Samsung claims that the users will be able to take a picture, no matter how you are holding the smartphone.

The triple camera set up includes a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera (with f/2.2 aperture), a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera (with Dual Pixel AF, OIS, and variable f/1.5 – f/2.4 aperture), and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera (with PDAF, OIS, an f/2.4 aperture, and 2X optical zoom).

The dual camera combines a 10-megapixel primary sensor (f/2.2 aperture) and an 8-megapixel RBG depth camera (f/1.9 aperture).

The 10-megapixel front camera comes with an f/2.2 aperture and an 80-degree field of view.

The foldable smartphone sports a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED panel with QXGA+ resolution (1536 x 2152 pixels) and 4.2:3 aspect ratio. The secondary 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display comes with a 21:9 aspect ratio and HD+ resolution (840 x 1960 pixels).

The folding mechanism includes a sophisticated hinge that uses interlocking gears. The hinge is cleverly hidden in the body of the smartphone. It is not visible at all on the outside.

The Samsung W20 5G comes with protective stoppers at the top and bottom of the hinge barrel. This prevents small particles from making their way inside or under the panel itself.

The Samsung W20 5G runs the Android 9 Pie operating system with a redesigned One UI skin that supports app scaling and to support the app continuity feature.

Users will be able to run three apps simultaneously. An App Continuity feature allows a seamless transition from the smaller screen to the larger one and vice versa. Apps like WhatsApp, YouTube, and Microsoft Office have already been optimized to work on the flexible device.

The Samsung W20 5G also features AKG-tuned speakers and Dolby Atmos support. It comes in a single pearl white finish.

The Samsung W20 5G comes with 5G support, thanks to the Snapdragon x50 modem. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port.

The new handset sports an in-display fingerprint sensor. Other sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light, barometer, geomagnetic, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.

There is also a Wireless PowerShare feature for reverse charging a phone or accessory.
