After the success of Samsung Z1 phone, Samsung is now said to be working on its two new Tizen phones- the Samsung Z2 and another Tizen smartphone which will be launched globally. The successor of Samsung Z1, the Z2 phone is rumored to be an entry level smartphone while the global Tizen phone will be a mid-ranged phone. The Z2 is likely to be unveiled in first half of 2015. While there is no word on availability of the global Tizen phone, it is said to be launched in several markets across the globe like Korea, USA, Russia, EU, China, India, France, Malaysia and South Asia. A number of leaks and rumors about specs and features of upcoming Tizen phones have surfaced over internet. The Samsung Z2 is rumored to pack a 32-bit quad-core processor paired with 1 GB of RAM. It is likely to feature qHD TFT LCD display with 960×540 pixel resolution, 2000 mAh battery and Tizen 3.0 UI.
The global Tizen phone on the other hand is likely to pack a 4.8-inch HD Super Amoled S-Stripe RGB display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. Other rumored specifications of the handset include 2 GB of RAM, 8 mega pixel rear camera and 2600 mAh battery. Rest of the details about specs and price of the handsets are unclear as of now and are likely to surface in the coming days.
To recall, the Samsung Z1 was launched in India in January 2015 at Rs. 5,700 however the handset has recently received a price cut and is now retailing at Rs. 4,990 in India. The Z1 is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor paired with 768 MB of RAM and runs Tizen 2.3 operating system. It features a 4 inch display with 854×480 pixel resolution. Other specifications of the handset include 4 GB inbuilt memory (expandable via microSD card), 3 mega pixel rear camera, VGA front facing camera and 1500 mAh battery. It offers 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as connectivity options.
