The new foldable phone comes with several upgrades over the Galaxy Fold (launched last year). It features a bigger, flexible display with an Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) protection.
Additional highlights include triple rear cameras, wireless charging support, and Wireless PowerShare (uses can charge wireless charging-supported devices with the new handset).

The new smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor along with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage (non-expandable).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is backed by a 4,500mAh battery that supports fast charging, wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.

Cameras
The foldable phone sports a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture), a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2 ), and a 12MP telephoto lens (f/2.4).
Camera features include 4K video recording, slow-motion video recording at 960fps, and optical image stabilisation (OIS) support.
For selfies, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 sports a 10MP camera (f/2.2) on both cover screen and main display. Preloaded features include Auto Scene Optimisation, Bixby Vision, Group Selfie, HDR10+ Video, Live Focus, and Panorama.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 runs Android 10 OS with One UI 2.5 on top. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, UWB (Ultra Wide Band), and a USB Type-C port.
Sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor, an RGB sensor, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The new handset sports stereo speakers by AKG along with Dolby Atmos support. It measures 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9mm and weighs 279 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 features a 7.6-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with full-HD+ (1,768 x 2,208 pixels) resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 22.5:18 aspect ratio.
Additionally, Samsung has added a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Flex Display (on the cover) with a resolution of 816 x 2,260 pixels and a 25:9 aspect ratio.
The company claims that it has redesigned the hinge with a dedicated “sweeper” to clean dust and debris out using elastic fibers. There is also UTG protection over a plastic covering. A CAM Mechanism lets you open it up at multiple angles.

Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be available in India at Rs 1,49,999. It will be up for pre-orders starting on September 14.
The foldable phone comes in two color options – Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze. It will be available on Samsung.com and across leading retail stores.
In the US, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is priced in the US at $1,999 (approx Rs 1,48,300).
The South Korean giant also launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne Edition. It will be available in select countries from September 25. There is no information about its price as yet.
The Thom Browne Edition package includes the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Buds Live, and fully customised accessories with elements of Thom Browne’s signature design.
Additionally, users can customize the foldable phone in four hinge colors – Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue, and Metallic Gold. The customizable online tool is available in select regions via Samsung.com.
