Samsung has unveiled its Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 smartphone. This handset is essentially the successor of Xcover 2 smartphone which was launched in 2013. The Xcover 3, just like its predecessor is rugged and can withstand extreme conditions. It is in line with MIL-STD 810G specification such that it can bear a fall of up to 1.2 meters and also complies with IP67 rating which means that the phone is dustproof and waterproof (up to 30 minutes in 1 meter of water).
As far as the specifications of the handset are concerned, the Galaxy Xcover 3 is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which is said to be upgradable to Android Lollipop. It features a 4.5 inch display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. On storage front, it houses 8 GB inbuilt storage which comes with microSD card support for further expandability.
Imaging department includes a 5 mega pixel camera on the rear which is capable of capturing images under water while there is also a 2 mega pixel front facing camera onboard for making video calls and capturing selfies. It packs a 2200 mAh battery. With just 9.95 mm thickness, it weighs 154 grams. On design front, the Xcover 3 features physical keys for home button, multitasking and back buttons so that the handset can be used in extreme conditions.

There is no word on pricing and availability details of Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 rugged smartphone. However it is likely to be showcased at CeBIT event and will be available starting April 2015.
