According to rumors, it is to be believed that Indian telecommunications operator Reliance Jio is all set to take the television and broadcast sector by storm. Online publication TelecomTalk has reported that the company is planning to launch its new JioHome TV service. It will be a modified version of the Jio Broadcast app, which was recently tested for streaming HD content on some devices. The report also stated that JioHome TV will offer SD (Standard Definition) channels for a monthly price of Rs. 200 and SD+HD (High Definition) channels for Rs. 400 per month.
The report also states that Reliance Jio will provide this feature to all its users. This new service is not to be mistaken with the Jio DTH service, which has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, although the company reportedly dismissed the claims recently.

JioHome TV could be available in the upcoming weeks, as reportedly the trial tests have already been completed.
What is JioHome TV?
Reliance Jio’s reportedly new streaming service is based on eMBMS (Enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service). It incorporates one-to-many broadcast systems used by television and radio channels and one-to-one architecture used by telecom service providers– which helps with scalability. It is being speculated that users using JioHome TV won’t require an active internet connection. The company might broadcast some content for offline viewing (HD also).

The company earlier had a Google Play Store app called JioBroadcast, which has been removed. It could have been a move by the company, to transition JioBroadcast to JioHome TV.
Earlier Reliance Jio had made an announcement regarding “eMBMS broadcast stream across Pan-India”. It is not yet sure if the company will provide the service through its MyJio suite of apps or Jio set-top-box, or replace it with the new eMBMS service.
The company has been internally testing their Jio DTH services but has dismissed plans to launch them commercially. The company’s next focus is on fiber broadband, which could mean that JioDTH could be introduced after FTTH broadband. Earlier this month in April, the company had deployed massive MIMO pre-5G/4G technology service at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Delhi’s Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium to enable high-speed internet service and to enhance user experience during this year’s Indian Premier League.
The company hasn’t yet confirmed this new development and the source of this news hasn’t been confirmed yet. The company hasn’t made any official announcement. So wait, and hopefully, JioHome TV enters into our lives soon.
