The new smart display is similar to the Xiaomi’s XiaoAI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8 (launched in December 2019). It comes with a built-in camera.
Alongside the new smart speaker, the Xiaomi sub-brand also launched by Xiaomi a host of other devices such as the Redmi Smart TV Max. Let’s take a closer look:

The Redmi Smart Display 8 supports both voice and touch controls. It also works as a hub to control various smart devices.
The smart speaker comes with a third-generation Xiaomi’s Xiao AI assistant support. It supports gestures to control music, videos, and alarm clock.
The front panel also sports an HD camera for video calling. It supports multi-device calls. A built-in Bluetooth gateway allows Bluetooth-equipped devices to connect with one touch.
The 8.0-inch touchscreen display comes with a 178-degree wide-viewing angle and a special lamination (reduces reflection and protects from eye strains).
The Redmi Smart Display 8 comes in Black and White color options. It supports popular video platforms in China
Additionally, a custom kids mode offers kids-focused content. It also features a child face recognition feature.

The Redmi Smart Display 8 comes with a price tag of CNY 349 (approx Rs 3,800). The company has not announced the global pricing and availability details as yet.
However, the new device will be available for crowdfunding in China from March 27 via official channels.
