Unlike AR/VR headsets, smart glasses have not been successful in the market. Now, Meta has come up with a new device in collaboration with Ray-Ban.

Previously, Ray-Ban stories were launched in September 2021. The new Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses come with several new features. However, they do not feature a display unit.

With Meta Smart Glasses, users will be able to live stream videos to Facebook and Instagram. Features include a 12-megapixel camera sensor. Let’s take a closer look:

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform processor and pack 32GB internal storage.

The new smart glasses feature a sleek design and come with an IPX4 rating. They feature a 12-megapixel camera and dual open-ear speakers.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses can last up to four hours on a single charge. With a charging case, you can get an additional 32 hours. You can fully charge the device in just 75 minutes.

Camera

The 12-megapixel camera and the LED light are placed on the two circular cutouts on either side of the frame. The LED light doubles as a recording indicator.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses allow users to capture 1080p videos of up to 60 seconds. and pictures with a resolution of 3,024 x 4,032 pixels. You can use the Meta View app to share these media files with any other image/video-sharing apps.

The highlight of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is the first-person perspective live-streaming on Instagram and Facebook profiles. You can also use the ‘Hey Meta’ prompt to enable hands-free functions.

Price and Availability

Price (starting)

$299 (approx Rs 24,999)

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses come with a starting price of $299 (approx Rs 24,999) for the standard lenses. It comes with 150 different custom frame and lens design combinations.

You can get the Polarized lenses and transition lenses at $329 (approx Rs 27,400) and $379 (approx Rs 31,500), respectively.

The new smart glasses are now available for pre-orders in 15 countries. Sales will start on October 17. As of now, there is no information about the Indian price tag and launch date.
