Panasonic P81 5.5-inch display, Octa core processor and 13MP camera launched at 18,990

Yesterday, Panasonic reported that it is launching its new flagship smartphone Panasonic P81 today, After teasing its flagship smartphone for days, Panasonic finally made available the device in Indian market. The device will be available from the third week of May with an MRP of INR 19,990 along with best buy price 18,990 in the market. The P81 comes with a 5.5-inch display along with Octa core processor from MediaTek.

Talking about specifications in detail, the Panasonic P81 sports massive 5.5-inch HD IPS display along with 1280*720pixel resolution display. On the other hand, the device comes with 1.7Ghz Octa-core processor from MediaTek and a Mali 450-MP4 GPU. The Panasonic P81 has 1GB RAM on board as well.

The Panasonic P81 is running on slightly older version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system along with Panasonic’s own Play Life UI on top of it. On the photography front, the 13-megapixel camera at back of the smartphone comes with LED flash and can shoot HD videos. There is a 2-megapixel front unit as well on board for video calling and self-portrait.

There is 8GB of internal storage on board as well and up to 32GB memory card support for more storage. The Panasonic P81 comes with 2500mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the P81 is a dual SIM smartphone along with dual standby mode. On the other hand, it has 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as well. The smartphone is available in black only.

Panasonic offering some freebies too worth INR 9,900 with the smartphone. The Panasonic included 6 month of Evernote premium account worth INR 1,800 and one month free download from Hungama along with India Today content and some offers from Hot-n-trendy Space. The Panasonic also included some accessories with smartphone like flip cover and screen guard worth INR 2,000.

Commenting on the launch, Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said, “With the launch of the Panasonic P81, we have reached yet another milestone as this is the first model of the “P” series featured with octa-core processor. The introduction of this model reiterates our commitment to keep innovating as we believe that it is a direct result of the consumers’ needs, and customer centricity has to be at the core of developing products for the Indian consumer.”

Expert Analysis

The Panasonic P81 comes with fake leather finish at back, but it feels premium.Although the flip cover provided with the handset has glossy finish, but its matter of choice. The P81 comes with slightly older version of Android, which is certainly disappointing, but overall the device is pretty powerful and can run any app available in Play store.
