Oppo is all set to launch New Year edition variants of its recent flagship smartphones (R17 and R17 Pro). The customized variants are expected to come in a different color scheme. Price and Availability

The Oppo R17 Pro and Oppo R17 New Year variants will be launched in China on December 17. As of now, there is no confirmation about the price. However, the Oppo R17 Pro New Year Edition is likely to be priced slightly higher than the regular model. The Oppo R17 is priced in India is at Rs 34990. Whereas the Oppo R17 Pro was launched at Rs 45,990.

Additionally, the upcoming handsets will come with a customized retail box, a limited bundled gift, and a new color option.

The Oppo R17 sports a 6.4-inch display with full-HD+ (1080 x 2280 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor along with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage (expandable via a microSD). The new processor is built on the 10nm process. It comes with the Qualcomm Kryo 360 CPU, Qualcomm Spectra 250 dual-cam ISP, Qualcomm AI Engine, Adreno 615 GPU and Snapdragon X12 LTE modem.

In terms of optics, the Oppo R17 sports a dual camera setup on the back. It combines a 16MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and a 5MP secondary sensor. The 25MP front camera comes with Sony IMX576 sensor and a f/2.0 aperture.

The 3,500mAh battery supports the company’s own VOOC charging technology. The handset can perform multiple AI-centric tasks including image enhancement and scene detection. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with ColorOS 5.2.

The Oppo R17 comes in Twilight Blue and Starry Purple color options with gradient finish. It measures 157.5 x 74.9 x 7.5mm and weighs 182g. The Full HD+ display is accompanied by a tiny waterdrop notch design. The smartphone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It also features an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Oppo R17 Pro

The Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels), 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and screen to body ratio of 91.5 percent. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The new smartphone is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor along with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

In terms of optics, the Oppo R17 Pro features a triple camera setup with a variable aperture feature, called Smart Aperture. A 12-megapixel primary sensor comes with dual aperture lens (f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture). Additionally, there is a 20-megapixel secondary sensor and a 3D TOF depth sensor (for 3D face unlock). Camera features include optical image stabilization (OIS), Dual Pixel PDAF, and an Ultra Night Mode (AI-based algorithms optimizes pictures in low-light conditions). The 25-megapixel front camera comes with aperture f/2.0.

The 3,700mAh battery comes with the company’s own Super VOOC charging technology. It offers up to 40 percent charge within just 10 minutes. The new smartphone runs ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The dual-SIM smartphone comes in gradient color options – Emerald Green and Radiant Mist. It comes with a water-drop notch on front. The Oppo R17 Pro comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and ‘Face unlock’ feature.
