The new smartphone is powered by a 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor along with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 16GB virtual RAM, and 128GB UFS2.2 storage.
In terms of optics, the Oppo A79 5G sports a dual-camera setup on the back. It uses a 50MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture, 77-degree field of view) and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor (f/2.4 aperture).
For selfies and video calling, the new handset features an 8-megapixel front camera (f/2.0 aperture). It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W SuperVOOC fast charging.
The company claims to offer zero to 51 per cent charge in 30 minutes. It promises up to 26 hours of talking time and 14 hours of video playback time on a single charge.

The Oppo A79 5G runs Android 13 operating system with ColorOS 13.1 on top. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, A-GPS, a USB Type-C port, USB OTG, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The dual SIM (Nano) smartphone sports a 6.72-inch LCD display with full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) resolution, up to 90Hz refresh rate, 650nits of peak brightness, 91.4% screen-to-body ratio, and 391ppi pixel density.
The Oppo A79 5G comes with an IPX4 rating. Sensors on the device include an in-display fingerprint sensor, an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, a gravity sensor, a pedometer, and a proximity sensor.
