OnePlus is quite popular among the Indian users for its ‘flagship killer’ devices. Now, the Chinese brand has launched a new smartphone called the OnePlus 5. The new handset offers the best from its predecessors in a slimmer package along with some upgrades. But how does it compares to rival flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 or LG G6? Price
The OnePlus 5 with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at $479 (approx Rs 31,000). While the 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant costs $539 (approx Rs 35,000). The Chinese company has not announced the India pricing yet.
Comparatively, the Samsung Galaxy S8 was launched in India at Rs 57,900 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model. While the LG G6 price in India starts from Rs 39,990 (4GB RAM/ 64GB storage). Even the 128GB storage variant of OnePlus 5 is cheaper than the LG G6 base model. Still certain features might make up for the difference. However, the new ‘flagship killer’ has a huge advantage over the Samsung Galaxy S8 when it comes to price.

The OnePlus 5 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (4 x 2.4GHz + 4 x 1.9GHz). Whereas the Samsung Galaxy S8 is powered by an Exynos 9985 chipset. The LG G6 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. While the OnePlus 5 and LG G6 are backed by a 3,300mAh battery, the Galaxy S8 comes with a 3,000mAh battery. The OnePlus 5 sports a more advanced processor and offers a larger RAM option too.

Camera
On the camera front, the OnePlus 5 and LG G6 sport a dual camera setup at the back. The OnePlus 5 combines a 16-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX398 sensor, 1.12-micron pixels, f/1.7 aperture) with a 20-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony IMX350 sensor, 1-micron pixels, f/2.6 aperture). Camera features include 2x optical zoom, a dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording with EIS. It also sports a 16-megapixel front camera.
Whereas the LG G6 combines two 13-megapixel sensors (f/1.8 aperture + 125-degree wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture). Camera features include 4K video recording and a LED flash. It also features a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S8 sports a single 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a f/1.7 aperture. It also features an 8-megapixel front camera. Does OnePlus 5 offer better image quality than the Galaxy S8? We will have to wait and see.

Design
In terms of design, the OnePlus 5 resembles the iPhone 7 Plus. It is made from anodized aluminum. The LG G6 is slightly heavier than the OnePlus 5 at 163g. It comes with IP68 certification too. Both smartphones feature dual camera setup on the back. While OnePlus moves the rear camera towards the top left corner, the camera setup takes a top center position on the LG G6. Also, the LG G6 places its fingerprint sensor on the back, unlike OnePlus which integrates it with the Home button.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S8 sports a unique design with 18.5:9 display aspect ratio. The all-glass design gives the Galaxy S8 a flashier look than the OnePlus 5.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch bezel-less ‘Infinity Display’ with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels. The LG G6 also features a larger 5.7-inch FullVision LCD display with Quad HD+ (2880 x 1440 pixels) resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio display.
The OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with full-HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution and 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. It supports sRGB and DCI-P3 color standards. The OnePlus falls behind in this segment because of its smaller display with a smaller resolution. The Galaxy S8 and LG G6 offer a better viewing experience.

Conclusion
All three devices offer excellent performance. While the OnePlus 5 lags behind for entertainment purposes, the power-packed device offers competitive specs along with a premium design. The Galaxy S8 and LG G6 offer a tempting package, but they also come with a huge price tag. The OnePlus 5 is a great all-around device which will cost you much less.
