Nokia India has launched its entry level Nokia Asha 205 phone in the Asha series which is a QWERTY keyboard phone with dedicated Facebook button and functionalities. The price of the phone starts at just Rs. 3499 for the single SIM version and a Dual SIM model has also been launched. The sales of this new phone start from December 24th 2012 in India which is the Christmas festival season. Along with this new phone, Nokia has also introduces a special Bluetooth based sharing feature called SLAM in which content like photos, videos and songs can be quickly shared with other Bluetooth enabled mobile phones without pairing the two phones. It also works with the old Bluetooth phones without SALM technology.
It has a display size of 2.4 inch diagonal with a resolution of 320×240 pixels. The dimensions are 113x 61 x13 mm which is quite sleek and the phone easily fits in hand. It has a rear camera which is a VGA camera with 640×480 pixel resolution. The battery capacity is 1020 mAh which is said to deliver very long life because of low power consumption and deliver a talk time of up to 11 hours. Interestingly, it supports 2G GSM GPRS and EDGE networks but does not support 3G.
It does have many functionalities which an entry level buyer needs like SMS, MMS, Emails, Radio, Flash Player (lite), microSD slot for expanding memory by up to 32 GB, Audio and Video Player, organizer, voice recorder etc. to name a few. As a promotional offer, Nokia is giving free 40 Games from EA games with the Asha 205 and applications like Facebook, Twitter and eBuddy comes pre-installed on it.
Nokia has tied up with Idea cellular to provide 3 months free access to Facebook for the buyers of Asha 205. It supports push notifications for eBuddy and softwares like Whatsapp which are quite popular with youth buyers and the QWERTY keyboard further helps to improve the chatting experience by making the typing quick and easy.
