The Kirin 960 compromises of high-performance 2.4GHz ARM Cortex A73 cores, 1.8GHz Cortex A53 cores, and UFS 2.1 storage. Built using a 16nm process, the Kirin 960 is the first processor to use the new Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. This is also the first commercial deployment of the A73 core. Additionally, it is the first chipset to support Vulkan. Adoption of Vulkan standard maximizes the octa-core GPU performance. The i6 coprocessor (part of ‘big, little, tiny’ architecture) offers 30 percent higher memory capacity. The new processor brings balance between performance and power consumption.
