The new tablet comes with a starting price of $72.99 (approx Rs 5,740) for the 16GB storage variant. The 32GB storage model comes with a price tag of $109.99 (approx Rs 7,900). It is already available for orders on Amazon.com. Shipping starts from October 4.
The new Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet comes in four color options – Black, Marine Blue, Punch Red, and Canary Yellow. You can also get tablet cases in matching colors at $29.99 (approx Rs. 2,150).
Additionally, the company has launched an all-new Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet. It is priced at $129.99 (approx Rs 9,300).

The new Amazon Fire HD 8 model looks Identical to last year’s model. It features an 8.0-inch display with HD (1280 x 800 pixels) resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB RAM. The internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 400GB).
The new tablet is also touted to be two times more durable than the iPad mini 4.It features a 2-megapixel HD front camera for video chatting. The dual stereo speakers are powered by Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby ATMOS. Connectivity options include a dual-band Wi-Fi support.
The new Amazon Fire HD 8 runs Fire OS 6, based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It comes with core Android Nougat features like a Doze mode (improves battery life). The built-in battery offers up to 10 hours on a single charge. Proprietary features on the device include ASAP, For You, X-Ray, Second Screen, Amazon FreeTime, Family Library, Blue Shade, On Deck, and Prime Video downloads.
Additionally, the new tablet comes with hands-free Alexa integration. It allows you to perform multiple tasks (play a song, pause a movie, make a video call, read an Audible book, offer information, etc) by simply asking the voice assistant.
A Show Mode offers full-screen visuals complementing voice responses from Alexa (similar to Amazon Echo Show and Echo Spot). It also includes a Show Mode Charging Dock that offers an always-ready Alexa experience.

Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition
The all-new Fire HD 8 Kids Edition comes with identical specifications to the new Fire HD 8 tablet. However, it comes with an additional ‘Kid-proof’ case. The company is also offering a two-year worry-free warranty with the device.
The new tablet comes with 32GB internal storage. It comes with preloaded parental controls and a kid-safe browser (uses Common Sense Media’s and Amazon’s native expertise to restrict inappropriate content).
