1. Design & Build Quality

The design of the phone has been revamped. It has a flatter design compared to its predecessor and comes with a plastic rear which is removable. It is a well built and sturdy phone which looks great in hand.

2. Display

It features a 5.5-inch Full HD Display with 401ppi. The display is sharp and bright and has good viewing angles. The touch experience over the screen is also very smooth.

3. Corning Gorilla Glass Protection

It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for resistance against scratches.

4. Weight

It is a light weight phone with155 grams of weight. Despite featuring a large display, it doesn’t feel very heavy to hold.

5. Software

It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. The software is clean and smooth and comes with several features like Pick up the phone to stop it from ringing, Flip the phone for do not disturb mode and Moto Display that shows notifications every time you pick up the phone, The company has also promised Android N update for the phone, soon after it is released.

6. Camera

It comes with a 16 mega pixel primary camera with dual LED flash with Phase Detection Auto Focus and f/2.0 aperture. Both low light and outdoor performance of the phone are are impressive. It comes with a Professional mode which lets users to set focus, White Balance, ISo and exposure. The images taken with this phone are very crisp and have good detailing and clarity. There is also a 5 mega pixel front facing camera which also does a decent job in taking selfies.

7. Hardware and Performance

The Moto G4 Plus is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU. It comes in two variant based on RAM and storage: one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage which other variant packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It scores around 45000 points on AnTuTu benchmarks. The gaming performance of the phone is very impressive and we did not face any noticeable lag issues. But it did get slightly warm while playing graphic extensive games. Overall performance of the phone is great and it handles gaming as well as multitasking with ease.

8. Battery

Its 3000mAh battery which is good enough to offer up to one day of usage without struggling. It also comes bundled with a Turbo charger which is said to offer 6 hours of power with 15 minutes of charging.

9. Fingerprint sensor

It comes with a fingerprint sensor located below the display for additional security. It unlocks the device from every direction and is said to unlock the phone in less than 750 milli seconds. During our testing also it unlocked the phone quickly and accurately.

10. USB OTG

It supports USB OTG which means you can watch movies and videos directly on the phone using pendrive, without transferring them.

11. Dual SIM

It is a Dual SIM phone and also supports expandable storage up to 128GB using microSD card.

These are the 5 downsides of Moto G4 Plus

1. Not IPx7 Certified

It comes with nano coating for protection against water spillage but it lacks IPx7 rating which is a bit disappointing considering that its predecessors came with this feature.

2. Average Earphones Quality

The sound quality of earphones which come bundled with the phone is just average. The speakers of the phone however are loud and clear.

3. Fingerprint Sensor Location

The location of fingerprint sensor below the display is quite strange as it doesn’t double up as a home button. The three navigation buttons including the home button are a part of the display. The button provide below the display works only as a fingerprint sensor and users might confuse it with home button due to its placement.

4. No Magnetic Field Sensor

It comes with proximity ambient light sensor and gyroscope sensors but lacks magnetic field sensor. which means that applications such as maps would not be able to know your compass orientation unless the cellular data is on.

5. Overpriced

It is priced at Rs. 13,499 for 2 GB RAM and 16GB storage variant and Rs, 14,999 for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. There are many smartphones available in the market that offer similar specs at lower price.

It is value for money device that offers good display, excellent camera, great performance, fast and accurate fingerprint sensor and more.
