Lenovo has launched its Moto G4 Play smartphone in the Indian market. Priced at Rs. 8,999, it will be up against the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime smartphone which carries the same price tag. Design
The Redmi 3S prime flaunts its metal unibody design with a fingerprint sensor on the back. It measures 8.5mm and weighs 144 grams.
The Moto G4 Play features same plastic design as its elder siblings- Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. It comes with water repellent nano coating but lacks a fingerprint sensor
The Redmi 3S Prime certainly looks more premium but the water repellent nano-coating of the Moto G4 Play gives it an advantage.
Display
Both smartphones pack 5-inch HD display with 1280×720 pixels resolution.
Hardware Specs
The Moto G4 Play packs a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with Adreno 306 and 2GB of RAM. It houses 16GB of internal memory.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime on the other hand, comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor paired with Adreno 505. It houses 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. Both Moto G4 Play and Redmi 3S Prime support expandable storage up to 128GB using microSD card. On the spec-sheet, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime does look more powerful than the Moto G4 Play.
Camera
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime sports a 13 mega pixel primary camera while the Moto G4 Play comes with an 8 mega pixel rear camera. Both phones are equipped with 5 mega pixel front facing cameras for capturing selfies and making video calls.
Software
While the Moto G4 Play runs stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, the Redmi 3S Prime has MIUI 7 skin atop Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime offers tonnes of customization options.

Verdict
Apparently, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime is the winner in this comparison. It offers better specs and design as well as a more customizable OS compared to the Moto G4 Play. However if you are not a fan of heavy customization and want a decent smartphone with water repellent nano-coating then you can go for the Moto G4 Play.
