Micromax has taken the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone called the Micromax Canvas 5. Priced at Rs.11,999, it will be available to buy from offline and online stores across the country starting this week with double data offer for 4G and 3G from Airtel.
The price tag of Rs.11,999, isn’t a surprise considering that it is company’s latest flagship smartphone loaded with impressive features. But is this flagship smartphone worth your money? The design of the phone is impressive. It features a faux leather removable rear panel which looks great while holding in hand. The frame on the edges gives it a premium look. Overall, it is a sturdy yet light weight smartphone.
On the front, there is a 5.2-inch full HD display with resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and pixel density of 423ppi. The display features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches.
Above the display, there is front facing camera, earpiece and front flash.
Towards the bottom of the screen, there are three touch buttons which are a part of display.
Left edge of the phone is clean.
On the right edge, there is volume rocker and power button.
Bottom edge of the phone houses microphone and USB charging port.
3.5mm audio jack is located on the top edge.
On the rear of the phone, there is primary camera, LED flash and Micromax logo.
Speakers are located on the rear bottom and are loud and clear.
Removing the rear panel gives access to dual SIM card slots, microSD card slot and 2900mAh non removable battery.
On camera front, it sports a 13 mega pixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash. There is also a 5 mega pixel front facing camera onboard. Both cameras capture impressive images with good detailing.
The handset draws power from a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It handles moderate to heavy games seamlessly but we faced some heating issues while playing some graphic intensive games. It runs Android Lollipop operating system and offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options.
