Last year, Facebook announced the plan for the desktop version of its Messenger app. Now, it has finally started rolling out the Messenger desktop version.
Due to the current lockdown, the popularity of video conferencing apps has soared. Facebook claims that it has also seen a 100 percent jump in the use of its desktop browser video calling on Messenger.
The Facebook Messenger Desktop App will allow Facebook users to make video chats on computer screens. It will work on both Apple’s Mac and Microsoft’s Windows.

“Now more than ever, people are using technology to stay in touch with the people they care about, even when physically apart,” said Stan Chudnovsky, VP of Messenger, Facebook.
“Over the past month, we saw more than a 100 percent increase in people using their desktop browser for audio and video calling on Messenger. Now with apps for MacOS and Windows, the best of Messenger is coming to desktop, including unlimited and free group video calls,” he added.
The Facebook Messenger for Windows can now be downloaded from Microsoft Store. The Mac version is available via Mac App Store.
The new app also comes with a dark mode. Facebook has been rolling out the dark mode as part of the desktop version’s redesign.
