The Chinese smartphone is priced at CNY 699 (approx Rs 6,600). It is available for sale in China. However, we are yet to receive any indication of the Indian price and launch date.

The Meizu A5 sports a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of 294ppi. It is powered by the 1.3GHz 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor along with Mali T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The 16GB internal storage can be further expanded (up to 128GB via a micro SD card.

On the camera front, the budget smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. Camera features include panorama and continuous shooting modes. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture, beauty mode for selfies and video calling. It is backed by a 3060mAh battery.

The Meizu A5 features a metal unibody design. It measures 144 x 70.5 x 8.3 mm and weighs 140 grams. The sleek looking device runs Android OS with Flyme OS 5.1 custom user interface on top. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and micro USB port. Sensors on the handset include gravity sensor, proximity sensor, compass, ambient light sensor, and infrared sensors.

Conclusion

The new smartphone offers decent specs at a budget price. However, it is not actually a new device. In fact, the new device is a rebranded version of Meizu M5c.
