The Lyf C451 and Lyf C459 are available at an effective price of Rs 2,392 and Rs 2,692, respectively (after subtracting the value of the bundled Reliance Jio benefits). The new offer will be available across official Jio retailers from October 2 to October 22.
To be clear, the smartphones, however, will be available at their original prices. While the Lyf C459 smartphone was launched in July this year at Rs 4,699, the Lyf C451 was launched Rs 4,999.
Reliance Jio Benefits
Reliance Jio is offering an additional benefit of up to Rs 2,307 to Lyf C451 and Lyf C459 users. Customers will get 5GB 4G data vouchers for 9 subsequent recharges worth Rs 201 each. Additionally, the company is also offering Jio Prime membership worth Rs 99 and the first recharge worth Rs 399 (valid for 84 days).

The Lyf C451 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with a FWVGA (480×854 pixels) resolution, a pixel density of 218ppi, and 2D Asahi Glass protection. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor along with Adreno 304 GPU and 1GB RAM. The 8GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 128GB).
On the camera front, the Lyf C451 features a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. It measures 139 x 66.5 x 9.8mm and weighs 165 grams. The budget handset is backed by a 2800mAh non-removable battery that offers up to 12.5 hours of talk time and 240 hours of standby time.

The Lyf C459 also comes with similar specifications. However, it is backed by a 2000mAh battery. The Lyf C459 measures 132.0 x 66.0 x 9.3mm and weigh 139grams.

Conclusion
With the VoLTE-enabled devices, Reliance Retail is targeting entry-level smartphone users. While the ‘effective price’trick looks attractive, it might not go well with certain customers. We will have to wait and see how the Lyf smartphones perform in the market.
