The new smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB RAM. The 64GB internal storage can be further expanded via a micro SD card. In terms of optics, the LG Q9 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. It is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

The new handset runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and comes with a dedicated Google Assistant key. It also supports LG Pay. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The LG Q9 features a 6.1-inch IPS LCD with QHD+ (1440 x 3120 pixels), 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a pixel density of 564ppi. The HDR10-enabled screen comes with 1,000-nit daylight visibility mode. A fingerprint sensor is placed at the back.
The new smartphone is waterproof (IP68) and drop-resistant (MIL-STD-810G). It comes in Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, and New Moroccan Blue color options. For audio, the handset features Boombox speaker, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC system, and DTS:X stereo support.
