First thing in the box is LG K7 LTE phone. It also comes with a charging adapter (output rating- 5V-0.85A), earphones, 2125mAh battery and a USB data cable. You also get some documentation in the box.
Design
It is a well built phone which looks stylish with LG’s glossy pebble design language. The design of the phone is reminiscent of LG’s high-end devices like LG G4. It comes with chrome plated rounded edges which look beautiful. It has a curved plastic back panel, which is removable and has a pattern over it for better grip. The phone is very compact and light weight and can be used conveniently with single hand.
On the front, there is a 5-inch FWVGA display. Above the display, there is a 5 mega pixel front shooter along with sensors and earpiece.
Below the display, there is LG branding and navigation keys are a part of the display.
On the rear, there is a 5 mega pixel primary camera with LED flash, power button, volume rockers, LG branding and speakers.
The speakers are loud and clear but not as loud as other smartphones in this price segment.
On the top edge, there is secondary mic for noise cancellation.
On the bottom edge, there is USB charging port along with microphone hole and 3.5mm audio jack.
Both left and right edges of the device are clean.
On removing the rear panel, you will get access to 2125mAh battery, 2 SIM card slots and a microSD card slot. Overall build quality of the phone is nice and it is a very light weight and compact phone with good grip.
Display
It comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display with 480p (854×480 pixels) resolution. The display is very sharp and bright and good viewing angles are good. It features 2.5D Arc glass for smoother touch and swipe experience. The video viewing experience is also good.
Camera
On camera front, it comes with a 5 mega pixel rear camera with Auto Focus and LED flash while there is also a 5 mega pixel front facing camera.
The cameras of this phone are pretty good. Images taken with this phone have detailing and clarity. The images taken with this phone in low light are not of very high quality. It comes with Gesture shot feature that allows users to take selfies by raising hand in front of the camera and make a fist. If the fist is made twice, then it will capture four selfies in a sequence. It also comes with selfie light feature such that the screen illuminates a soft light around the photo preview for well-lit selfies. Here are some sample images taken with this phone:
Hardware Specifications & Performance
Coming to the hardware and performance department, the K7 LTE is powered by a 1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor paired with Adreno 304 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of internal memory (around 4GB user available) which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
It scores around 20000 points on Antutu benchmarks. This phone handles multitasking with ease. We did not face any noticeable lag or heating issues while playing heavy games like Frontline commando 2. Overall performance of the phone is good.
Software
On software front, it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. The software is smooth and responsive. It comes with many interesting features such as Knock On and Knock Code features. The Knock On feature allows users to put the phone to sleep or wake it up without picking it and pressing the power button. The Knock Code feature lets users create a screen lock using 3 to 8 point tapping pattern for more security.
We tested the phone for USB OTG and it seems that the unit that we have received, doesn’t support USB OTG.
Battery & 4G Support
It is fueled by a 2125mAh removable battery which should be good enough to survive for up to one day on moderate usage. It is a dual SIM phone and comes with support for 4G LTE.
Price & Availability
The LG K7 LTE is priced at Rs. 9,500.
Verdict
The LG K7 LTE is a decent and value for money smartphone which you can buy under Rs. 10,000. It offers good display, nice design, good camera combination and a long battery life. But it is not the best option available in this price segment. There are other better options like Coolpad Note 3 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which you can consider buying in this price range.
