The Lenovo K8 Plus is powered by a 2.6GHz octa-core MediaTek 6757 Helio P25 processor along with Mali-T880 MP2 GPU and 3GB RAM. The 32GB internal storage can be further expanded up to 256GB. The company also plans to launch the 4GB RAM variant sometime near Diwali. It is backed by a 4000mAh non-removable battery.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is powered by a 2.0GHz quad-core Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. It comes with a larger 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB. This is where things might get a little tricky. The Mi A1 is backed by a 3080mAh non-removable battery. Both devices run stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
While the Snapdragon 625 clocks at 2.0 GHz, it has a much better track record in terms of power efficiency. We will have to compare the real-world performances of two devices to get a complete picture.
Camera
Both devices come with a dual camera setup at the back. The Xiaomi Mi A1 uses two 12-megapixel sensors (wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture + 2x optical zoom telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture). The Mi A1 comes with a 5-megapixel front camera.
The Lenovo K8 Plus takes a slightly different approach to the dual camera system. It combines a 13-megapixel PureCel Plus sensor with a secondary 5-megapixel depth sensor. The K8 Plus also features an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5-element lens, 84 degrees wide-angle and a party flash.

Features
The Lenovo K8 Plus features a full metal design. It comes with a dedicated media button (customizable) on the side of the device. Other features include multi-window support, a fingerprint sensor (on the back), TheatreMax, Dolby ATMOS, and 360-degree surround sound.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone also offers enhanced audio experience, thanks to a 10V Smart PA (Power Amplifier), DHS audio calibration algorithm, and a Standalone audio amplifier.
Design and Display
Both devices sport a metal unibody design. The Lenovo K8 Plus measures 147.9 x 73.7 x 8.99 mm and weighs 165g. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is slightly thinner at 7.3mm. While the Lenovo K8 Plus comes in Venom Black and Fine Gold color options, the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors.
The Lenovo K8 Plus features a 5.2-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution, 450 NITs brightness, and an oleophobic coating. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi A1 features a larger 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

Verdict
Both devices come with similar design and features. It is hard to choose between the two smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a better processor and larger display. However, the Lenovo K8 Plus is backed by a larger battery and bears a smaller price tag. While the Xiaomi Mi A1 seems like a better package, the K8 Plus is a better option for users on a budget.
