Lava, the Indian electronics manufacturer has just launched the Iris 405 which is the latest member of the Iris series from the home grown smartphone manufacturer. The Iris 405 has a 4 inch capacitive display which has resolution of 800×480 pixels which shall be just adequate for a screen this size. The company has priced the smartphone quite competitively and it will be sold for Rs.7,499.
The smartphone has its heart as a 1GHz dual core processor which will be a Mediatek unit. The smartphone launches with the latest version of Android, 4.1 Jelly Bean and it is quite nice to see that as smartphones in that price segment usually run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device comes with a 5 megapixel rear shooter and a VGA front snapper and the device gets a decent camera unit for the price it commands.
Like other budget smartphones, it will come with a dual SIM support. Talking about the memory department, the Lava Iris 405 has 4GB of internal storage with the user accessible memory being 2GB. But you need not worry, there’s a microSD card slot available as well which will support memory cards of upto 32GB. It has a 512MB RAM and that is what you usually get at this price and asking for a gig of RAM at this price seems a bit of an overkill.
It has the complete connectivity package, with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth being made available for your connectivity. It gets GPS as well for location based services and a FM Radio is present as well for those who like to listen to it. Applications such as Saavn,Fusion, Facebook and the like will come pre-loaded on the device. It is available right now on leading e-commerce websites and brick and mortar stores as well.
