Indian smartphone and tablet makers are surely on a roll this year and seem to be raising the bar with every new launch. We have some of the most capable 10″ and 7″ tablets in our markets and it just keeps on getting better and better everyday. From bringing in tablets on a budget, the Indian makers have made the new mantra to be performance on a budget. Karbonn, one of the major players in this regard, seems to be taking the market way more seriously than its competitors.
Karbonn has just launched the Velox 8 tablet which as the name suggests will be a 8 inch tablet and is now available on Saholic.com for Rs.7025. Karbonn seems to have cracked a deal with Saholic.com as all its products are available on e-commerce website before the official launch. The 8″ screen has a display resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. We do not really expect them to bring in updates as the Jelly Bean version as the Indian manufacturers have been lagging behind in this department.
Some of the vital specifications are:
- 8” display which is a LCD multi-touch unit
- 1.5 GHz Dual Core Cortex A9 processor
- Display resolution is 1024 x 768
- Runs Stock Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 3MP rear camera and VGA front camera
- Internal storage stands at 1.5 GB
- Connectivity Options: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G via dongle and HDMI port
- Battery: 4500 mAh
Karbonn has been at the top of the table for some time now as it has been launching some real good devices ahead of its main competitor, Micromax and have been going all guns out. Now Micromax showed some real promise when they went on to bring the budget tablets and mobiles to the market but they’ve been quite silent for a while. All said and done, the Velox 8 tablet has created a new 8″ segment in the tablet market and seeing that it is the only player in this segment, the device will be a runaway success.
