Reliance has finally launched the much-awaited Jio Fiber in India. Along with minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps, the broadband service will offer free voice calling, unlimited data and video conferencing. Additionally, you can get a free 4K TV set. The Reliance Jio Fiber aims to bring down the competition by offering broadband services at a 35-45 percent lower rates. It is offering a minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps for Rs 699.
Almost three years ago, Reliance Jio re-entered the telecom space with 4G mobile services. The company managed to get millions of subscribers with offers like free voice calling and data. This led to intense competition in the market. Mobile users benefitted from this disruption and aggressive pricing from rivals.
Similar results can be expected in the fixed-line broadband market. However, instead of a drop in prices, we are likely to see increased speeds in different price segments. Currently, the average broadband speed in India is 25 Mbps.
Jio Fiber is starting with from 100 Mbps and goes all the way up to 1 Gbps. It is India’s first 100 percent all-fiber broadband service. With over 1.5 crore registrations, the company is eyeing 3.5 crore subscribers.
As of now, BSNL has 9.05 million customers in the fixed-line broadband service segment. While the Bharti Airtel has 2.4 million customers, the Atria Convergence Technologies serves 1.45 million users. The Hathway Cable & Datacom (Reliance Jio’s subsidiary) and MTNL have 0.84 million and 0.74 million customers, respectively.
We will have to wait and see how many customers the Reliance Jio Fiber will manage to attract. The new broadband service has been launched across 1,600 cities.

Subscription plans
With the basic Rs 699 plan, you will get three-month complimentary access Jio Cinema and Jio Saavn app. Whereas the Rs 849 plan will get you three-month access to video entertainment apps. HIgher plans include an annual subscription of leading OTT video entertainment apps.
Under the preview offer, users will get the JioFiber services free for two months. For long-term plans (3, 6 and 12 months) Jio will provide attractive EMI schemes through bank tie-ups. You will only have to pay monthly EMI.

Silver: Price: ₹849, Speed: Up to 100Mbps, Data cap: 200GB
Gold: Price: ₹1,299, Speed: Up to 250Mbps, Data cap: 500GB
Diamond: Price: ₹2,499, Speed: Up to 500Mbps, Data cap: 1,250GB
Platinum: Price: ₹3,999, Speed: 1Gbps, Data cap: 2,500GB
Titanium: Price: ₹8,499, Speed: 1Gbps, Data cap: 5,000GB
Note: The above-mentioned prices are exclusive of GST. Extra data is available on long term plans as an introductory benefit. Interested customers will have to make a one-time payment of Rs 2,500. It includes Rs 1,500 security deposit and Rs 1,000 installation charges.

Free Offers
Jio Fiber users will also get free voice calling anywhere in the country, unlimited data and video conferencing. While the landline connection lets you make voice calls across the country, the set-top box will let you make video calls (with a webcam attached to your TV).
With all plans between Rs 699 to Rs 8,499 per month, the company is offering a complimentary 4K set-top box and an advance modem Jio Home Gateway (zero-latency gaming and device security of up to five devices).
Additionally, the company has added multiple free offers like free HD or 4K LED TV sets to annual subscribers of broadband plans in the range of Rs 2,499 to Rs 8,499. You can also get one with a two-year subscription of the Gold plan (Rs 1,299 per month).
The company also plans to add a new Jio First Day First Show offer next year. It will allow Premium Jio Fiber customers to watch movies on their TVs on the same day as their theatrical release.

- Registration will be confirmed via mobile OTP
- Next, Jio executive will visit your place to verify all information and offer further updates
Note: The Jio Fiber cable TV service will be offered under a separate paid subscription plan. However, Jio will also offer free Set-Top Box along with gaming, video calling Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality services.
