Design
On design front, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is reminiscent of its predecessor Galaxy S6 and comes with metal and glass body. It features a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button. It measures 142.4×69.6×7.9 mm, weighs 152 grams and comes with IP68 waterproof rating.
The Huawei P9 on the other hand, boasts its premium metallic design with chamfered edges. This stunning phone has been designed by some of the world’s top industrial designer’s. It is sculpted using aerospace-class unibodyaluminium and a superior-grade 2.5D glass. Huawei has certainly built the P9 with great precision. It looks sophisticated and luxurious. With 6.95mm thickness and 144 grams of weight, the P9 is sleeker and lighter than the Galaxy S7.
Although, both smartphones have their own appeal, yet if we had to pick one, we’d surely go for the Huawei P9 for its exquisite design. It is one of the most appealing smartphones we’ve come across so far.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch Quad HD screen while the Huawei P9 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display. On paper, the screen of Galaxy S7 does have more resolution (2560×1440 pixels) compared to the P9. But when both phones are kept side by side, you won’t find much difference in their display quality. Both phones have bright and vibrant screens with great viewing angles.
Hardware & Performance
Both phones pack octa-core CPU’s. While the Huawei P9 comes with a HiSilicon Kirin 955 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM, the Galaxy S7 comes with Exynos SoC clubbed with 4GB of RAM. Based on storage, the Galaxy S7 comes in two variants- 32GB and 64GB while the Huawei P9 comes in 32GB variant only. Both devices support expandable storage using microSD card.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a 12 mega pixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology, LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture and Smart OIS, while there is also a 5 mega pixel front facing camera with f/1.7 aperture.
The Huawei P9 on the other hand, comes with not just one, but two cameras on the rear. Camera is another department where the Huawei P9 stands out in competition. It boasts a commendable dual camera set up on the rear which has been co-engineered with Leica, which is known for its expertise in the field of optics and photography. It sports 12 mega pixel dual rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash, Laser Auto Focus, 1.25-micron pixels and Leica SUMMARIT lenses. One of the lenses captures light in color while the other captures in monochrome. There is also an 8 mega pixel front facing camera onboard. It comes with ImageSmart 5.0 technology that adds a professional quality to the images.
Both smartphones take excellent quality images, but the Huawei P9 seems to have an edge in camera department and the credit goes to its dual camera set up that produces incredible images.
Software
Both smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system wrapped under their respective UI’s. The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with TouchWiz UI while the Huawei P9 runs EMUI 4.1. Both phones are based on Android but they offer different user experiences.
Battery & Connectivity
Both smartphones are backed up by 3000mAh battery and support fast charging. The Huawei P9 again has an edge in this round due to its full HD resolution display which doesn’t consume much battery power compared to QHD screen resolution of Samsung Galaxy S7.
Both devices offer 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC as connectivity options. The Huawei P9 comes with a Type-C port while the Galaxy S7 comes with a micro-USB port.

Both Galaxy S7 and Huawei P9 are premium smartphones with top-notch features.Although, the Huawei P9 has definitely stolen the show with its elegant metallic design, incredible camera combination and long lasting battery, that too at much lower price than the Samsung Galaxy S7.
Who said that you will have to spend a fortune to buy a flagship smartphone? We are really impressed with what the Huawei P9 offers. Huawei P9 is offering every feature you would expect from a high-end flagship smartphone at a significantly lower cost than the Galaxy S7.
