The new ‘Sleep Standby optimization’ enables identifies your sleep pattern based on the usage of your smartphone. This helps the system to turn off the network during certain gaps of inactivity. The new feature can savesignifocant amounts of power consumption and improve battery life. The company claims that the smartphone gets out of Sleep Standby optimization before you wake up.

“The phone will automatically cancel any network restrictions and get the phone out of Sleep Standby just before you wake up so that you won’t miss any notifications such as news updates, emails etc,” the company said in a forum post.

The OxygenOS 5.1.4 update brings the new feature to last year’s OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. Additionally, the new update comes with the July Android security patch, improved photo clarity, group messaging and bug fixes for the built-in gallery.

Here’s How To Get Sleep Standby Optimisation On OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T

• Check the availability of the OxygenOS 5.1.4 update on your OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T
• Go to Settings > System updates
• Tap the Check for Updates button from the bottom-right of your screen
• Download and installed the OxygenOS 5.1.4 update
• Now, to enable the ‘Sleep Standby optimization’ go to Settings > Battery > Battery optimization
• Tap the three dots from the top-right corner of the screen to select Advanced optimization

Note: The new software update is rolling out as an incremental rollout. It may take some time to reach your device.

The OnePlus 5 features metal unibody design with rounded edges and corners. Also, the antenna bands are less visible than its predecessors. The sleek looking handset resembles the iPhone 7 Plus. It measures 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25mm and weighs 153g. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the home button.

In terms of specifications, it is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The new smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Oxygen OS on top. It is backed by a 3,300mAh battery with Dash Charging support.
