Last month, Huawei has unveiled its Honor 9 smartphone in China. The new handset features company’s own Kirin processor and dual camera setup. The new Honor 9 Premium will be available in Europe for 450 Euros (approx Rs 33,300). In China, the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant of Honor 9 is priced at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 28,419).
As of now, there is no official information about price in India or a launch date. While the 6GB RAM variant is expected to hit the Indian market in August, it is not clear whether Honor 9 and Honor 9 Premium will be launched separately or not. The Huawei-owned brand might not bring all three variants to the Indian market.

The Huawei Honor 9 Premium sports a 5.15-inch LTPS display with full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution, 2.5D curved glass and 428ppi pixel density. It is powered by the company’s own Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 960 processor (four 2.4GHz cores + four 1.8GHz cores) and Mali G71 MP8 GPU. The Honor 9 Premium is backed by a 3200mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support.
On the camera front, the Honor 9 Premium sports dual cameras on the back. The camera setup includes a 20-megapixel sensor for monochrome and a 12-megapixel sensor for RGB. Camera features include a f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus system (PDAF), 2x optical zoom, 4K video recording, HDR, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, and two-tone LED flash. There’s also an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture on board which supports full-HD video recording.

The dual-SIM (both Nano-SIMs) smartphone runs on Huawei EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The hybrid SIM slot allows up to 256GB of external storage via a micro Sd card. The Honor 9 Premium measures 147.3x 70.9x 7.45mm and weigh only 155 grams.
The Honor 9 Premium comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor (embedded in the Home button). Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, Infrared sensor, Hybrid Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC. The new smartphone also supports the newly launched Huawei Pay out-of-the-box payment solution.

The new Honor 9 Premium boasts of great performance and camera capabilities. The new Dual camera technology uses better optical lenses and image processing algorithms. We hope the new device makes its way to India soon. However, the Honor 8 Pro was recently launched in India at Rs 29,999. So, it might be a while before the Honor 9 Premium hits the Indian shores.
