Honor has launched the successor of 4X, dubbed the Honor 5X in India. Priced at Rs. 12,999, the feature packed smartphone will compete with Samsung Galaxy J7 which costs Rs. 14,999.

Design & Durability
The Honor 5X flaunts its stunning diamond polished aluminium alloy body which gives it a premium look. It features chamfer edges and measures 8.15mm in thickness. The overall design of the phone has been inspired by the Guggenheim Museum in Spain.
The Galaxy J7 on the other hand comes with plastic body and faux-metal edges. The design language of the Galaxy J7 is reminiscent of other smartphones in Samsung’s Galaxy series. Overall design of the phone is monotonous. It has dimensions of 152.5×78.7×7.5 mm and weighs 172 grams.
The Honor 5X is thicker and heavier but certainly looks more premium compared to the Galaxy J7. The former is more durable as well due to its metal design.
Processor & RAM
Both smartphones pack octa-core CPU’s but different chipsets. The Honor 5X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM while Galaxy J7 packs an Exynos chipset coupled with 1.5GB of RAM.
Display
Both Honor 5X and galaxy J7 feature 5.5-inch displays but with different resolution. While the display resolution of Honor 5X is 1080p, the Galaxy J7 lags behind with 720p resolution.
Storage
Both phones house 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
Camera
In camera department, both phones sport a 13 mega pixel primary camera on the rear and a 5 mega pixel front facing camera. The rear camera of Honor 5X is accompanied with dual LED flash. The Galaxy J7 comes with single LED flash with both front and rear cameras.
Battery
This round is a tie. Both phones are backed up by a 3000mAh battery. The Honor 5X supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0, which can charge the battery from 0 to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.
Additional Features
The Honor 5X comes with fingerprint scanner for additional security. It supports with Fingerprint Identification 2.0 technology as well as 360-degree recognition. The Samsung Galaxy J7 lacks fingerprint sensor.
Verdict
The Honor 5X seems to have an edge over Galaxy J7. The Honor 5X carries price tag of Rs. 12,999, which is Rs. 2,000 less than the Galaxy J7, yet it offers better specifications and stunning design. The overall specifications and design of Galaxy J7 are not impressive. Then, why pay Rs. 2,000 more for buying Galaxy J7, which lags behind the Honor 5X in almost every department? Compared to Galaxy J7, the Honor 5X offers better display resolution, more RAM, premium aesthetics, durable design as well as additional security via fingerprint scanner. Considering its outstanding features and price, the Honor 5X is a great value for money package.
