The Facebook-owned app is one of the most popular messaging platforms. Unfortunately, it also opens a portal to a lot of unwanted conversations.

Now, you can stop certain chats from showing up in your main list of chats. WhatsApp allows ignoring a person or a group without having to block them.

You can permanently hide selected chats by archiving them. The archived chats stay muted if new messages come in that conversation.

Users will not receive any notifications for archived chats unless you are mentioned or replied to. You can also choose to manually unarchive them.

Previously, the messaging app only kept the Archive chats hidden until a new message comes on the group, which then automatically unarchived it.

The new Archived settings keep less important conversations hidden on the main chat list. You can access both individual and group chats at any time in the Archived section.

How To Hide WhatsApp Chats Permanently

• Open WhatsApp and select the chat that you want to archive.
• Now, three options will appear on top – Pin, Mute, and Archive (downward arrow facing icon).
• Once you click on the Archive button, the Archived section will show up on the top of your chat feed.
• Then, you can go into the section and see your hidden chats at any time.
• That’s it!

To unarchive a chat, simply click on the Unarchive option (upward arrow facing icon) on top.

You can also archive all chats. Go to the chats tab and tap on More > Settings. Then tap on Chats > Chat History > Archive all chats.
